Because they apparently made a pact with the devil if he would free them from slavery... So, this is their comeuppance?
Well, if all the white European colonists at the time were claiming a monopoly on god (as much of the world still does today), I would've been appealing to the devil too.
I thought this asshole was dead. Apparently, that just must be his brain.

What gets me is the underlying implication that since they "earned" this, that we've somehow "earned" better. -Michelle
Such a bitter taste this man leaves...
Such trauma to children, to mothers and fathers...to loved ones and community members...such trauma cannot be a "blessing" no matter how deep the disguise is. It is heartbreak...and apparently Mr. Robertson hasn't enough of one to feel this.
