We're Okay
So, it hasn't been as bad as this;

But it's been close. I've been doped up on Benadryl, which I hate taking. But, if I don't, the smoke has been so bad, this is what I'll look like 24/7;

Except, I'm not Asian and I don't usually pull my hair back into a bun.
So, with the help of Benadryl, I've been in a walking coma and I'm only sneezing and coughing and gagging when I'm awake.

We're getting closer with the hair, nose and ethnic class here, but I would like to think that my arms and legs are a bit more muscular. And I have 5 fingers per hand. And I have a slightly bigger mouth. Oh, and I don't have a teal turtleneck, nor do I have turquoise stockings or a black mini...which reminds me I should get one.
It really has been nasty, but we've got it mild compared to the poor folks down south.

Will's aunt and uncle were evacuated to his cousin's home. Only to be evacuated from there a few hours later. We haven't heard from them recently, but we're keeping them in our prayers and we're sure they're okay...
The air has been thick and heavy, and hot and ashy. The sidewalks and roads are covered in a brown soot. The winds have died down, thankfully, but when they were blowing, even though we had all the windows and doors shut, there was ash and soot everywhere.
I found it under my toothbrush, in my contact case and on our counters. And of course, our boogers have been black. That's providing I have boogers...which I don't. And I don't fart or shit either. And my breath always smells of Lotus blossoms.
See? Benadryl also makes you delusional.
Anyway, I thought that I should really do a post letting you know that we're okay. Quite a few of you have written to me expressing concern, and I truly appreciate it. For the time being, we're fine. It seems better today, although they're still advising everyone to remain indoors and avoid any outside exercising.
It has been rather difficult to breathe and the air tastes gritty. And when I've been French-kissing on the neighbors, they've been tasting gritty as well.
In the below satellite image, we're in the middle/top portion, just to the left of the topmost fire, which is happening in Santa Clarita.

About a month ago, there was a local magazine that had the headline of "Local Hometown Heroes". And the "heroes" that they were talking about were fucking volleyball players.
I love playing volleyball. I love playing a lot of different sports. But, when I think of a true hero,

I guess I have something different in mind.

Are you talking about the fireman's job or his big hose?
We're okay too, not that you asked. We're close to Santa Clarita but the winds are blowing away from us.
On that note, I do fart and it should be reaching you in about 3 hours.
Glad you're okay!
Thanks for the update. I was getting nervous. Us East Coasters have no concept of the geography out there.
Please send a note about Will's pumpkins. I'm still thinking about them. Heh. That sounds dirty.
Thanks for the update and glad all is well with you and yours.
If you did fart now would be a good time because who would know?
I'm with you on the heroes thing. The firemen/women and all the emergency response folks are heroic. And hott (not to be confused with hot, which I'm betting they all are right about now too).
And wait, what about Will's pumpkins? If it's dirty, even better!
sadly I've head my head so far up my ... yeah, that I didn't know there were fires till last night ... so Im glad you poted today ... cuz I was wondering.
Glad you posted with a thumbs up. Very scary chit happening out there. I'm praying for a mother of a rain storm SOON!
We had some rain on Monday, and I tried to send it your way. No luck.
So glad to hear that you and Will are okay, despite the Benadryl stupor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Thanks for the info, Kevin. From where I am, it sounds horrible and more and more people keep leaving to come and help. The inbox is stuffed with emails from the Red Cross.
So, glad you are okay -- black boogies, you can deal with!
glad you are ok, and BRAVO.
Glad you are ok kitten
my love to anyone who this is affecting
I'm so thankful that you are alright, Kevin. Will's family will be in my thoughts. How devestating. Firefighters are true heroes...all first response types are, in fact.
Glad you are OK. When I heard of fires in Santa Barbara I was wondering about you guys.
As far as heros, I hope you were referring to the putting out fires part of the firemen, not just the being hot part.
Glad you are "ok" despite the breathing difficulty. I wrote a post two days ago on it, calling home to Dad in Pacific Palisades, on the line of Malibu and my sister, up near you in Ventura. Both have been struggling with the ash, air and such, but neither have been evacuated. Hope all is safe for you.
Oh my gosh, I'm glad you guys and Will's family are safe. Don't underestimate that breathing difficulty. Get an inhaler that will open up your bronchial passages if you need to. Not breathing is a bitch. Hugs!
I'm delighted that you are all right. Fires are just a reality of the West. (shrugging) When I was a kid, they used to just let them burn.
I am sorry for people's pain.
And I do love firemen and fire jumpers!
So glad that you are OK. I've definitely been thinking a lot about the people who are affected by the fires. Please keep us updated.
