The more awareness there is, the less ignorance exists,

and the more hate, will begin to dwindle...

The House of Joy is fully behind you.

I have sent a letter to my representative and an e-mail to 20 friends asking them to do the same.

Best,
J

Letter sent. Email sent to friends and family. There are no words to describe how important this bill is and the notion that there are soulless animals out there championing its defeat makes me violently ill, Kevin. It brings out the worst kind of thoughts in me. The kind of unkind thoughts that are best not articulated in a public forum. I think about Matthew Shepard and I picture how I would feel if someone did this to one of my own children because they disagreed with how the universe made them. And I am speechless with grief and horror.

I'm quite involved with everything these days... I am quite the activist anymore.....

We have to be involved ...
our voices must be heard!!

But I think most of the time.. our politicians "put us on ignore."
This is what I've been finding...

I will absolutely send a letter. How long ago was that awful crime? It still feels so raw. So sad.

Well it's about time something is being done to fight hate crimes. I'll send my letter. I just don't get why a person's sexual orientation can stir up so much hate. Especially to kill. Wasn't it the movie American Beauty where the dad was a gay basher and then it turned out he was gay? Or is that a different movie?

Express mail. With a lick of "feisty" on the stamp.

And a touch of heartbreak to seal the envelope.

Done, done, and done. The murder of Matthew Shepard has haunted me in my soul. I simply cannot understand what lurks in people that can make them so cruel. I pray that the legislation will be put into effect.

In the Open Grove, for two years, we did segments on gay life - relationships, work, parenting - because we read a study that said that fear of homosexuality is based in ignorance. Or, it's less homophobia and more homoignorance.

The interesting thing is that we never received any negative feedback for these segments. No hate mail. No negative phone calls. No nasty forum posts. Nothing. We received them for other programs - stop dieting, day care, any study from the Cooper institute, stuff like that - but never the gay programs.

Which always made me wonder if it's not homoignorance, but homosilence.

Anyway, my dear, you do a tremendous service by sharing your life with people. You make such a difference in the world.

Please eat your broccoli and come and see me and the bees! ;)

Kevin, I've emailed my friends and family...I am just horrified by the things people do out of hate and ignorance. This is the sort of thing that leaves me absolutely dumbfounded. And heartbroken. :( I pray to God that the bill passes...He will make sure *all* of His children are protected.
