Lakme (Delibes) - The Flower Duet
Okay, now hopefully you realized that I was being facetious about my spirit being rejuvenated by the song featured in yesterday's post. I found humor in comparing ancient Persian poetry, Buddhist philosophy and Toltec wisdom to rather blunt song lyrics. But, if I have to explain the joke, it must not have been a very good one.
So, besides reading Rumi, Thurman and don Miguel Ruiz, The Flower Duet truly does rejuvenate my spirit. It restores my faith that humans are capable of being beacons for the divine, leaving me breathless, covered in chills with tears dancing on my lids.
Dramatic? Maybe. True? Definitely.
L'Opéra Imaginaire - This version is especially nice if you're on mushrooms or LSD...or glue.
This version is performed by Katharina Jing An Gebauer (Lakme) and Viktoria Car (Mallika) in the Conservatory of Vienna. (Jan. 12th 2007) And even though the stage has seen better days, these two women are amazing. It's hard for me to comprehend that just two voices together can create something so completely beautiful...However, I'm not sure what they did when they went off stage for the last part of the diddy. Spanking may have been involved. Hey, I'm just saying...It's possible.

I couldn't watch the first image, Kevin...To me those hands looked like salad forks... So I decided to close my eyes and I float with you...
I have taken my daughter to the symphony since she was 18 months old, the opera and the ballet since she was in Sr.Kindergarten.
Music of such beauty is true nourishment for the soul...
Yes another reminder I need to take my kids to something beyond the Wiggles. They seem to like Daddy's weird music though...
Amazing - people are so talented! Thanks for sharing!
Love that song...Why does that first video remind me of Edward Scissorhands..?
You always discover the neatest things; thank you for sharing them! Now, I feel a bit more "worldly" today. :)
Yes...spanking. Or they sprouted wings like Victoria's Secret models and flew away.
Yeah, I remember the first time that Fuck It song came out ... cant think who it was by .. and then the oh so clever and not at all a marketing ploy response called F U R B (fuck you right back) by Frankie ... both a UK no.1 in spring 04 ... and both shite. You dont get this kind of crap with Madonna & Kylie you know.
