Changing The World
All of you keep me inspired, keep me contemplating, keep me hoping and certainly keep me laughing. And for this, I'm extremely grateful. Here are just a few of the bloggers and certain posts of theirs that I wanted to share with you on a day when citizens of the United States should all exercise their right to vote. It's a privilege to and we shouldn't take that freedom for granted.
Not all of these posts have to do with today's political arena, but there is an underlying cognizance that I appreciate, that I feel we would all benefit from should it be interjected into our daily thoughts.
Holly, Sven and Carrie, keep writing you guys! And keep trying...
After all:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead

I can't vote, but I will do my part by going to the school parking lot and keying all the cars with GW stickers, okay?
I like to do my bit for democracy.
Lisa - You're welcome...you're another blogger that I should've mentioned, I'm sorry. But, I'm glad that you're still around and still writing. Your voice needs to be heard and I'm proud of you! And you keep me inspired.
Marmite - HHHAAA!! Excellent! made me burst out laughing, thank you. :) That sounds like a splendid idea!
I'll have to check out those links. Thanks!
You know, I never thought I'd feel more passionately than I did for that last election, but this election, well, in St. Louis I feel like it is really important.
Ooooh, my eyes are welling up ...
Thank you Kevin. Even though some of my "pursuits" may be small, they matter and I think in the long run, they contribute to the bigger picture.
I am still passionate about all that worldly stuff too, don't get me wrong.

ps. notice the lack of goody bags at Katie's party??? Not a one in sight!
Golf claps for the fantastic quote.
I voted today and it was a liberating experience.
Made me feel all IMPORTANT and shit!
I'm off to check them out.
PS. That Margaret Mead quote is a favorite. You are so in my mind.
Unfortunately Michele Bachmann won her race in MN. My disappointment was tempered somewhat by the shift in control of the U.S. House and Senate. Given the new Congressional make-up her shrill hateful vioce will be rendered almost completely useless. Sadly for voters in the 6th District of MN she will waste her entire time in Congress trying to pass a Constitutional ban on gay marriage. Nothing else matters to this woman.
I had the chance to listen to her victory/thank you speech on the radio last night. Interestingly, she didn't thank God. During the campaign she stated that "God called her to run for the United States Congress" and that "God focused like a laser beam, in his reasoning, on this race". God put in all that work on her behalf and she can't even throw him a bone during her victory speech? Talk about gratitude.
On the plus side MN elected it's first woman for US Senate, it's first ever African American (and a Muslim to boot) in the 5th Congressional District and Democrat Tim Walz beat long time Republican Gil Gutknecht in the very conservative 1st District.
Maybe I should put this on my own blog.
