Cinderella Man

Last night, a couple that we're friends with came over with a pizza for dinner and brought Waiting for Guffman, Will and I had never seen it. I made a salad, some brownies (don't be impressed - Trader Joe's "No Pudge" brand out of a box with a cup of yogurt) and Will had brought home a cheese cake (complete "Pudge" brand). The couple had just gotten engaged as of the day before. I can't name them by name, because there are still some people who don't know yet... so...we'll refer to them as...as...The Baron and Molly...yes, that will work.

So, obviously we're THRILLED for them. They're very sweet people and very sincere. The kind that you meet and think, "There's NO way that there are people who are this sweet! They're full of shit, or are axe murderers or devil worshippers or something!" Nope, they're really that sweet. And it just goes to show you how bitter I've become to think that people can't just be really nice. They've helped restore my faith in people. But anyway, they're on cloud nine...or cloud sixty-nine, one of those, maybe both.

A week or so ago, they borrowed some Asian costumes that we have; some kimonos. Will and I LOVE, LOVE Halloween. And we have a growing collection of costumes and wigs. Sometimes at our dinner parties we just bust out some wigs and sunglasses and watch the good times roll. Everyone becomes incognito and liberated for a short while and it's always fun, sometimes disturbing.

Well, the Baron and Molly were returning our things and to show their appreciation, they added with them; a matching purse and slippers to go with one of the kimonos. It was totally un-necessary, but a very nice gesture. And now, we have those to add to the costume collection.

So, we had a nice evening and after enjoying the pizza, brownies, cheese cake, the movie and their company, we gave our hugs and unfortunately, as they were leaving into the midnight crisp air, I yelled out for all the neighbors to hear, "THANKS FOR THE PURSE AND THE SLIPPERS!"

And closed the door a bit sheepishly, feeling fit for a queen.

Thanks Kim, I'm truly glad that you're laughing. And I hope that I'm nice, sometimes I wonder. :) What I am sure of though, is that it takes one to know one...okay, I'm pretty sure. :)
Thanks again!

Yum... Trader Joe's No Pudge brownies. You & Will have a costume collection -- how cool is that? You're lucky I don't live near you because I'd be over borrowing costumes all the time.

Susan, something tells me that you would be a very welcome addition to our group and would fit in perfectly. And we'd gladly let you borrow our costumes.

At Halloween, we always invite the neighbors too, that way they aren't upset when people are past out in their bushes the next morning.
